I like to visit kpop forums to find out pictures and news on the latest korean happenings. There’s a new YG group coming out called “Big Bang” and a female duo from SM called “2nb.”
On the picture forum, there is a thread called “Post Your Lovely Pictures.” It’s filled with blurry webcam/cell phone pictures, with people posing in odd angles. Have you ever seen asian webcam photos with the words haduri in the corner? It’s actually a korean kind of image hosting deal where a lot of koreans/asians host their photos for their “Cyworld” pages (a Korean myspace). So a lot of these asians take glamor shots with slick clothes/hats/lighting/blurry/animated/posed pictures. Mostly they are just posers.
Those whose pictures are well known (through posting or contests) are called uhlzzang or uhljjang. Uhljjang is an abbreviation of “uhl-gul-jjang”. It’s slang for “best face” or “the prettiest face”. Here are examples of uhlzzang:
