Cooler than You

Today I had a blessed day. And I don’t mean that in a cliche way, I actually, really, REALLY had a blessed day. Sometimes we need to slow down our brains and remember that Jesus loves us.

So I’m helping at nursery at Grace again. It’s pretty fun, and I’m proud to say that I have some kid skillz now. I learned a lot from the class supervisor who is basically a wizard when it comes to children. A lot of volunteers from 180 and Crossroads come through, and today some nubby from the Masters college came to help (I noticed he was shockingly gung ho and enthusiastic)! After the normal toy-playing, the children were set up for their walk (they hold on to a rope, one rope for boys, one for girls), and left the class room for the walk. We were setting up chairs and stuff, when minutes later, we heard shrill, familiar screams from the hallway.
“That sound like, what’s his name-Caleb.”
We forgot to tell the nub volunteers that Caleb is a special need kid! OOPS! The master’s college guy came in with Caleb, with a hilarious dejected, mournful look on his face. He was totally confused as to why the little kid was exploding in a primal rage. Haha, nubby. Something I’ve found with little ones is that when they cry, nubs are too nice to them. I normally just give them a tissue, and don’t pay too much attention to their tears, because often they’re milking for sympathy with ingenuine tears. Like half the time they cry needlessly.

Anyhow, I like them.

There’s always someone out there cooler than you
