Email today from Ebay:

“Time to stock up!

It’s been a while since you bought this on eBay…
You Purchased:
$49 Bell Bike Lock BRAND NEW!! NO RESERVE CARBON F November 02, 2005

BUY MORE!”

My dad randomly bought Underworld 2. Haha. It was about as good as the first.

I am going to rant here.

You know what is frustrating to me? Having to endure basically stupid questions and comments about my career that (often time) have negative implications. You would think after a few years of this I would get used to the same two autonamic questions people ask: “What do you plan to do? Become a musician?” and “are you majoring in something besides music?” With few exceptions, most of the time I don’t take this well. Basically I feel like I have been insulted.  Let’s say you are EE and someone asks you “Why didn’t you choose to go to MIT? They’re good at EE, aren’t they? Better than UCLA. so… Do you have another major besides double-E? (Answer is no. Or maybe a minor is something random). Oh… so what do you plan on doing after college? Become a professional engineer or something? Do you plan on becoming a CEO?”

Average people don’t realize the work that is invovled in studying violin, and to imply triviality of your efforts is very upsetting. Mostly unintended, I know, but it’s disappointing.

Please don’t ask stupid music questions.

I get the same question. But delayed.

Person: You go to Harvard?! Woooow. Great! What do you study?
    Me: East Asian Studies.
Person: Oh… um… so East Asian Studies? Wow that’s kind of unusual. So… what are you planning to do after you graduate?
